Swimming Pool Construction

The following is a step by step tour through the swimming pool construction process....

Prepare the site

The swimming pool construction area must be cleaned of all debris and any trees that will interfere with the swimming pool before construction of the pool can begin. This step is, for the largest part, the responsibility of the home owner. Make sure the site looks good and that you are absolutely sure about the location of the pool.

Digging and putting up the swimming pool wall

Burnette's will come in with a back ho, and dig the hole that will become your pool. The pool walls will then be constructed. The plumbing for the pool drains will be installed at this point also.

Concrete Footer Poured

Burnette's Pools goes the extra mile by pouring a concrete footer around the outside base of the pool wall. This footer gives the pool wall extra reinforcement. At this point, additional reinforcement is added under the pool steps.

Plumbing

The plumbing is now added to the swimming pool. Pipes are attached to the main drain, the vacuum system, and the two returns. Burnette's Pools once again goes the extra mile by adding a extra return at the steps, and by placing a sepetate vacuum line. The pipes are laid on the concrete footer that was poured previously.

Backfilling and leveling

At this point, all of the dirt that has been laying around your backyard will be used to backfill around the swimming pool. Burnette's Pools will also level the area around your pool. The next step is getting rid of all of the extra dirt left over... Burnette's Pools takes care of that also.

Vermiculite Pool Bottom

The next step in the swimming pool construction process is to apply the vermiculite pool bottom. Vermiculite is mixed with with a very fine cement mixture to form a protective bottom to the pool. This solution will not slide out of position like a sand pool bottom can, and will keep the pool looking good for many years to come.

Place the liner and add water

The next step is to place the liner into the pool opening, and start addding water. The liner is attached arount the top of the pool with framing. A vacuum is attached under the liner to help remove air as the water is flowing into the pool. Adding water can take anywhere form 2 days to a week depending upon the size of your pool, and the flow of the water entering the pool.

Framing the Deck

Burnette's will now frame up the deck area around the pool. Inside the framing, a grid of rebar is set in to give strength to the concrete. The most important step in this process, though, is that a grounding wire is attached to each portion of the rebar, the pool walls, the steps, the ladder and handrail fittings, and is run through to the common electrical ground. An electrical inspection is then required before the concrete is poured.

Deck Finishing

The concrete is then poured and finished. After the concrete has cured (usually 3 weeks), Burnette's Pools will return to place the screws for the pool cover if you chose the deluxe pool cover.
